Thursday, May 17 – Tony Dierckins presents “Lost Duluth”
Tony Dierckins presentation is taken from his most recent book “Lost Duluth” which utilizes over 400 images of vanished homes, buildings, landmarks, industries and residential neighborhoods.  Join the journey and be introduced to people – from hard-scrabble pioneers to wealthy industrialists to impoverished immigrant laborers – whose ambitions and dreams built the Zenith City on a swamp and rocky hillside at the head of the Great Lakes.   The program begins at 7pm followed by an opportunity to meet the author, purchase copies of his books, and get them signed.  The Evening Entertainment Series program will be held in the lecture hall at the Lake Superior Maritime Visitor Center.  Admission is free.  For more information, call 218-727-2497.

Thursday, May 24 - The Science Museum of MN present “The History & Recovery of the Whydah” featuring underwater explorer Barry Clifford in St Paul, MN
Barry Clifford, discoverer of the Whydah, author and underwater explorer will discuss the first pirate shipwreck ever discovered from 7-8:30pm at the Science Museum of Minnesota.  Discount tickets can be obtained with code “Aquarium” at 651-221-9444. 

Friday, May 25 - Monday, May 28 - The 7th Annual Memorial Day Kayaking Rendezvous in Bayfield, WI
Join the fun at Little Sand Bay Campground located at 32665 Little Sand Bay Road.  Activities begin Saturday morning at 9am; Saturday night will be a pot-luck dinner. Lake Superior is cold, so wet suits or dry suits are required for paddling. Cruise of Lifetime Raffle Tickets Are Available Now!
Raffle tickets can be purchased in person at the information desk at the Lake Superior Maritime Visitor Center in Canal Park, 600 South Lake Avenue in Duluth. MN.  A one-page raffle flyer can be completed and mailed to LSMMA with payment (sorry no credit cards) for tickets.

LSMMA Announces the 2012 Spring Break Up Drawing Winner!
Congratulations to Laurie Malkovich of Hibbing, MN.  Her name was drawn from the LSMMA membership on March 20 around 8pm as first Great Lakes Fleet/Key Lakes, Inc. vessel, the John H. Munson, went under the historic Aerial Lift Bridge in Duluth, MN.  Malkovich and a guest will enjoy a 5.5 day cruise with the winners of the 2011 Cruise of a Lifetime raffle this summer on the 1,000-foot ore boat and greenest vessel on the Great Lakes, the Edwin H. Gott.
