Jean Michel Cousteau
Following in the footsteps of his famous father, Jean Michel Cousteau
has spent his life exploring the world's oceans aboard the research
vessels Calypso and Alcyone, and communicating to people of all nations
his love and concern for the world's oceans. He is President of Ocean
Futures Society which is a result of the merger in March 1999 of the
JeanMichel Cousteau Institute and the Free Willy Kiko Foundation.
In
addition to being involved in several professional organizations, Jean
Michel has written a regular column for the Los Angeles Times Syndicate
that appears in over 60 newspapers worldwide. Jean Michel has also
worked very closely with NASA on many projects related to Earth Science.
Recently, he has been involved with emerging technologies and new media.
Cousteau's research, presentations, films, and TV specials represent his
lifelong efforts in support of the water planet. His list of
accomplishments is too numerous to mention. Among his recent honors is
the Environmental Hero Award presented to him by Vice President Gore at
the White House National Oceans Conference in 1998.
